About Petit Fire
Petit Fire puts a small candle light in the corner of your screen while you work. Click the menu bar icon to light it. Click it again to put it out. That is the whole app. It does not draw a fire. It draws what a small flame does to the screen in front of it — a warm cast along the edge, moving the way a wick moves. Look at it or don't; it does not mind. Nothing counts down. Nothing expires. Nothing asks you to come back. The light stays until you put it out. FIVE THINGS TO CHANGE • Brightness • Size • Place — bottom left, bottom centre, or bottom right • Volume • Sound — on or off All of them live in the same menu. There is no separate settings window. A WOODEN WICK, IF YOU WANT ONE The sound is a real recording of a wooden-wick candle, released to the public domain by the person who made it. It never repeats the same stretch: the app cuts a different piece each time and crosses between them, so there is no loop to notice. The sound is off until you ask for it. NOTHING IS RECORDED No account. No sign-in. No analytics. No tracking. Your settings stay on your own Mac. The only network connection the app makes is to Apple, and only if you open the tip jar. EVERY FEATURE IS FREE There is nothing to unlock and nothing to subscribe to. If you would like to say thank you, there are two one-off items in the About panel. Buying changes nothing inside the app. A dark screen shows the light best.
